Ash and Aamir cold war comes to end.

ash-amir[1]1

The long long battle between Ash and Aamir was came to a still on the anniversary party of Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna.

Akshay and Twinkle celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary a couple of days ago and at the party, the bonding between Aamir and Ash was a sight to watch. They bonded at the party like nothing had ever gone wrong between them.

Differences between Ash and Aamir cropped up when the former opted out of Mangal Pandey and that too at the very last minute. At the time, Aamir had requested his good friend Rani Mukerji to step in.

According to a source, “Aishwarya had come much before Aamir arrived. Normally, Ash leaves most parties in not more than 10 minutes. However, at this one, when she learnt that Aamir and Kiran were on their way, Ash decided to wait.

When Aamir and Kiran arrived, Aishwarya met Aamir and spoke to him warmly. They discussed quite a few things including Kiran’s film Dhobi Ghat. Both Ash and Aamir were together at the party for some time but Aamir had to leave early, so he left with Kiran.”

Well, this time it was Ash who took the initiative.

The source further said, “Aamir has always been on very good terms with Mr. Amitabh Bachchan and would meet up with him whenever he could. However, there has been a problem between Ash and him for the longest time, which finally seems to have ended.”

Bollywood is really on a patch up spree..

Aamir decided to prepone the Dhobi Ghat film

aamir-khan1

Who would have ever thought that butter-wouldn’t-melt-in-his-mouth
would take a decision that would rub others the wrong way. To be fair, the man is entitled to take decisions that work best for him. But, his decision to prepone the release of his film Dhobi Ghat to the third week of January instead of March as it was earlier planned hasn’t gone down very well with other directors.
Aamir decided to prepone the film to January after he saw the response at various festivals. Vishal Bharadwaj’s Saat Khoon Maaf and Madhur Bhandarkar’s Dil To Baccha Hai Ji were due to release on January 21 too.

Our source said, “Both Madhur and Vishal had scheduled their films to release on January 21, but after Aamir decided to release Dhobi Ghat, both of them have shifted the release date of their respective films. Everyone is aware that Dhobi Ghat is a small budget art film but going by the active marketing strategy that Aamir brings in, it will be very difficult as he will be all over the place. So Vishal has postponed his film’s release to February 18, while Madhur has postponed his to release on January 28.

“I think “Dhobi Ghat” is the best film of my production house:Aamir Khan

aamir-khan1

Superstar Aamir Khan says his forthcoming film “Dhobi Ghat”, which is his wife Kiran Rao’s directorial debut, may not be liked by the masses.

“I fear that masses may not like ‘Dhobi Ghat’ because it is a very fine and delicate film. People who understand film, people who are sensitive - this film is for them. This is not a mainstream film,” said Aamir.

“Dhobi Ghat” tells the tale of how people from different classes drawn together in compelling relationships. Shai (Monica Dogra), an affluent investment banker on a sabbatical, strikes up an unusual friendship with young laundry boy Munna (Prateik Babbar), and has a brief dalliance with painter Arun (Aamir Khan).

As they slip away from familiar moorings and come closer, the city finds its way into the crevices of their inner worlds.

Though he is apprehensive about people’s reaction, Aamir says “Dhobi Ghat” is the best offering from his production house.

“I think this is the best film of my production house. I am really happy and excited about this film,” he said.

“Dhobi Ghat” is scheduled to hit theatres Jan 31, 2011.

Aamir back with Farhan Akhtar in next venture

Aamir1

After scorching the screens in 2001 with their cult outing “Dil Chahta Hai” (DCH), Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and Farhan Akhtar have teamed up again for a suspense drama.

Co-written by Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar, the movie will be directed by Kagti. It will go on floors in February next year.

The 45-year-old Aamir, who took a break from acting after the release of his blockbuster “3 Idiots” (2009) to concentrate on his home productions “Peepli Live”, “Dhobi Ghat” and “Delhi Belly”, has joined hands again with Farhan and his producer partner Ritesh Sidhwani.

“I found the script written by Reema and Zoya really exciting and I am looking forward to working with Ritesh and Farhan once again,” Aamir said in a statement.

Both Farhan and Ritesh are equally excited to team up with Aamir, who will co-produce it with the duo’s Excel Entertainment.

“It feels great to be collaborating with Aamir a decade after ‘DCH’. We had been hoping to do a film together since then and I’m thrilled that it is finally happening with this script,” said Farhan.

Ritesh said: “I have been waiting to work with Aamir since ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ and its finally happening,. It’s special this time as we are also producing it together… I can’t wait to start filming.”

The film is scheduled for a 2011 release.

Now Aamir has become a barber

aamir-khan1

After playing a milkman, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan will be seen donning the garb of a barber and a shopkeeper in new TV commercials.

Aamir, who is the brand ambassador of TataSky, plays a barber and a shopkeeper in two different television commercials of the DTH service.

In both the ads, the customer walks in asking for a particular haircut or a white shirt, while he is forced to take something completely different. The situation shown in the films draws a parallel between the DTH companies and the barber and the shopkeeper and has been communicated through the use of humour and satire.

Conceptualised by Ogilvy and Mather, the core theme of the ads revolves around TruChoice Packages being offered by Tata Sky.

Television viewers - whether cable or DTH - don’t have the true choice of selecting only those channels that they wish to watch. In the process, they end up paying for a host of channels they don’t watch or like. These packages give the subscriber the option of watching only those channels he/she likes to watch.

Earlier, the actor had actually turned into a barber while promoting his film “Ghajini”, where Aamir was seen giving his typical Ghajini-style haircut to his fans.

Aamir refused to work on Amol’s next film

aamir1

The creative efforts of Aamir Khan and Amol Gupte had given us a sensitive film like Taare Zameen Par. But if the buzz is to be believed, Aamir refused to work on Amol’s next film. Rumours suggest that scriptwriter and actor Amol approached Aamir for a film. It was a subject close to Amol’s heart which he felt only Aamir could do justice to.

Our source said, “Amol met Aamir recently and the two even had detailed discussions on the subject as the actor heard Amol out patiently. “Apparently, the subject dealt with children and issues concerning them. Aamir felt the plot was very similar to what they had done in Taare Zameen Par. Though Aamir has great regard for Amol as a story teller, the actor felt that he would be getting repetitive in the film so he politely turned him down,” said our source.

It may be known that initially Amol Gupte was Taare Zameen Par’s director. But differences between him and Aamir made the latter take over as the film’s director.
